HACKERS NOT THIEVES: Kwara-Born Ethical Hacker, Coy Emerald Claps Back at VeryDarkMan Allegations, Advocates for Ethical Hacking

Renowned ethical hacker and cybersecurity expert Yunus Oyetunde, popularly known as Coy Emerald has fired back at allegations made by social media commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, that hackers are thieves.

Coy Emerald, who has been at the forefront of promoting ethical hacking in Nigeria, described VDM's allegations as misleading and uninformed. "It's unfortunate that VDM chose to tarnish the image of ethical hackers, who work tirelessly to secure digital platforms and protect individuals from cyber threats," he said.

The Kwara-born tech innovator emphasized that ethical hackers are problem solvers, not criminals. "We use our skills to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in digital systems, and then work with organizations to fix them," he explained.

Coy Emerald's #HackersNotThieves campaign aims to educate the public about the importance of ethical hacking and debunk misconceptions about the profession. "We want to show that hackers are not thieves, but rather professionals who are committed to making the digital world a safer place," he said.

The cybersecurity expert's work has earned him global recognition, including being named on Apple's 2024 list of security researchers. He has also been commended by the Nigerian Police (ICT Unit) for promoting public safety through his cybersecurity skills.

Through his O-range Ethical Hacking Class, Coy Emerald trains individuals and organizations in ethical hacking practices. He has worked with global tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Branch, and DROOM, and has helped to secure numerous digital platforms.

By advocating for ethical hacking, Coy Emerald hopes to change the narrative and promote a safer digital world.

"We urge VDM and others to join us in promoting ethical hacking, rather than perpetuating misconceptions about the profession," he said.
