Fuel Subsidy: The FG Has Approved A N5 Billion Palliative Fund For 36 States

The Federal Government has authorized N5 billion for the procurement of food for each of the 36 states as part of its efforts to lessen the harsh reality of the termination of fuel subsidies.

At the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting for the month on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which was chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, this information was made public.

Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno, said it was a component of a strategy to deal with the high cost of life brought on by the end of subsidies.
In addition to other goods, he claimed that the states will buy 100,000 bags of rice and beans and five trucks worth of rice for each state.

He also revealed that the NEC had decided that because of the influx of refugees from the unstable neighboring country, the border states abutting the Niger Republic would receive more palliative supplies than other states.
