INEC Chairman, Yakubu expresses readiness for polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared that its not under pressure to prosecute the general elections, starting from Saturday.


Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu made the declaration during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja.


Yakubu also disclosed that measures were being put in place to ensure adequate security of the Commission’s ICT facilities during the conduct of the elections.

According to the INEC Chairman, the Commission’s ICT facilities would be offline in order to prevent attacks.

He said: “INEC is not under pressure. Let me state here that most of our ICT facilities will be offline because its difficult to attack ICT facilities that are offline. We will continue to strengthen security during this period.


“We will continue to do all we can in line with the stipulations of the law and due process.”
