"The recent defections of members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the People’s Democratic Party PDP, on the floor of the National Assembly was long expected by some APC faithful in Rivers state, who said most of the defected law makers, did so because they have lost the party’s machinery in their states and are irrelevant in their constituencies."
Other defecting senators and House of Representatives members were also described as opposition members inside the party and as such their exit was a huge relief to the party.
Though the recent defection on the floor of the national assembly from the Apc to the PDP was least expected by members of the ruling APC, for others it was long anticipated.
Some APC Stewart's in Port Harcourt said the recent defections of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and governors of Kwara, Sokoto and Benue states will have little or no effect on the fortunes of the party because the APC was no longer fertile for them to achieve their aspirations.
Lawrence Chukwu stressed that there was no cause for alarm since the defecting senators rode on the back of president Buhari to win their elections in 2015.
Those who left the party were also seen as dissidents and their exit will afford the part the opportunity to regroup.
They said with the rumours going round that the minority leader of the senate is dumping the PDP for the APC, the ruling party is even a step closer to securing victory next year.
